Just For Me and My Dog - Our Mission
Supporting Homeless People & Their Companion Animals
Homelessness and mental health are deeply connected. For many people living on the streets, their dog is more than a pet, it’s their family, their emotional anchor, their only source of unconditional love.
A dog provides:
- comfort
- protection
- routine
- purpose
- companionship
- a reason to keep going
By supporting both the person and their dog together, we protect dignity, mental wellbeing, and the powerful human–animal bond that helps people survive the hardest moments of their lives.
Our Vision
We are developing a program to provide meal support for homeless individuals and their dogs. Each support pack will include:
- A meal for the person (food and water)
- Wet and dry dog food
- Hydration for both person and pet
- A small act of kindness that makes a meaningful difference
This program is currently in development, we are building partnerships with organisations who can help deliver support safely and effectively to those who need it most.
Transparency matters, we want supporters to see the journey from day one.
Current Status
We are in the planning and partnership‑building stage, we are working to connect with local groups, outreach teams and community organisations who can help deliver support packs directly to people and their companion animals.
Why This Matters
The bond between homeless individuals and their dogs is life‑changing. For many, their dog is the only constant in a world full of uncertainty.
But this bond also creates challenges:
- Many people refuse shelters if pets aren’t allowed
- Some go hungry so their dog can eat
- Access to vet care is limited
- Mental health struggles are intensified by isolation
By supporting both person and animal together, we help strengthen mental health, dignity, companionship, safety, and emotional resilience.
This campaign is about compassion, for both halves of the partnership.
